UCB's Global Purchasing mission is to ensure the supply of all requested goods and services as defined by its internal business partners at optimal total cost. In addition, it proposes alternatives and new solutions where possible through proactive demand management.

Global Purchasing activity is focussed on spend-categories e.g. direct production, technical, contract manufacturing, commercial, travel, IT&T and professional services and is staffed by category experts located throughout UCB's different sites around the world.

Global Purchasing supports UCB's overall supply requirements through strategic sourcing, integrated business processes and data management.

As a value provider Global Purchasing operates in close-cooperation with its internal clients.

Global Purchasing standard operating processes include following steps:

• Definition of functionality, characteristics of goods and services to be purchased.
• Association with key internal stakeholders.
• Collection and analysis of appropriate data.
• Definition and implementation of sourcing plan.
• Supplier selection; negotiation and contracting.
• Monitoring, measurement and reporting.
