Isoket® (isosorbide dinitrate) works by relaxing the special muscle present in the blood vessels and allowing the vessels to widen (vasodilation). This means that the heart does not have to work quite as hard to pump blood around the body and its own blood supply and allows greater physical activity. Isoket® is used for the treatment of angina and heart failure. Isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) is the active substance in the different presentation forms of Isoket®. Isosorbide dinitrate is available in a broad range of dosage forms and allows therapy for individual needs. Pharmaceutical forms within the Isoket® family include tablets, sustained release tablets and capsules, spray, ointment and i.v. solutions.

Isoket® 5/10 - sublingual use - is indicated in:

Treatment of acute angina pectoris
Prophylaxis of acute angina pectoris
Acute myocardial infarction
Acute left ventricular failure

Isoket® 5/10/20/40 and Isoket® 20/40/60/80/120 retard - oral use - are indicated in:

Long-term treatment of coronary artery disease
Long-term treatment and prevention of angina pectoris (even after treated myocardial infarction)
Long-term treatment of severe chronic heart failure in combination with cardiac glycosides, diuretics, ACE-inhibitors or arterial vasodilators
Pulmonary hypertension

Isoket® Spray is indicated in:

Prophylaxis and treatment of angina pectoris
Acute myocardial infarction
Acute left ventricular failure

Isoket® Solution is indicated in:

Severe angina pectoris (e.g. unstable or vasospastic angina)
Acute myocardial infarction
Acute left ventricular failure
To facilitate or prolong revascularisation procedures and to prevent or relieve coronary spasm during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty

Isoket® Ointment is indicated in:

Long-term treatment and prevention of angina pectoris.

Isoket® may be prescribed for use in adults and elderly.
