The project will focus on the identification of the role of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) pathway in the synaptic function and its implication in the pathology of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. The discovery of modulators of the UPS pathway may lead to new therapeutic principles for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Using UCB experience and technological platform for target and drug discovery, the project will aim to identify new pharmacological approaches to the treatment of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
The position requires a PhD level degree in the field of neurosciences, with innovative scientific accomplishment demonstrated by a solid record of publications.
The candidate is expected to have expertise/knowledge of:
Expertise/knowledge of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease would be an advantage.
The applicant is required to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, competence in the English language and a strong motivation to contribute to improving the lives of patients through the creation of breakthrough medicines.
This position is based in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium. Positions are available for a period of 36 months with a starting date during 2012.
