UCB’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is an external panel of renowned scientists with a range of academic and industry backgrounds. Each member of the Board has been chosen for their eminence in their field and the relevance of this work to UCB’s scientific focus and activities.
The mission of the SAB is to review UCB’s R&D strategies critically and to provide constructive scientific and strategic input to topics raised, ranging from portfolio strength and balance, to the areas of strategic investment, technology focus and clinical development.
By reviewing the portfolio and being in close contact with UCB’s senior scientists, the SAB members are able to contribute their thoughts and ideas to UCB’s Executive Committee. Importantly SAB members bring their own network of contacts and knowledge of the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and clinical world to assist UCB in strengthening its programmes and provide an invaluable outside perspective on current trends in medical research and development.
The SAB meets formally twice a year to discuss a range of strategic issues related to UCB’s R&D activities. In between these formal meetings, SAB members interact with their internally-assigned business contact, a senior UCB scientist with technical knowledge and interest aligned to that of the SAB member, generating more detailed discussion on key important topics.
